Idea for Surrealism Project
I'm going to do a Saw like surrealistic photograph of myself. It will include different ways saw had hurt his victims. More of a creepy evil theme I really enjoy doing bloody gore like art and this is why I'm choosing to do this idea. Even though this makes me seem as though I'm sick in the head I believe I'm going to portray this very well.

Surrealism Description
Katherine Linn Sage
born June 25, 1898 and died January 8, 1963, who goes by the name of Kay Sage, was an American Surrealist artist
and poet. She was active between the years of 1936 and 1963, and then she had
committed suicide in her last year of work. She had married a surrealist
painter Yves Tanguy in 1940, and was extremely sadly affected by his sudden
death by stroke in 1955. A member of the Golden Age, and later the Post-War
periods of surrealism, she is mostly recognized for her artistic works, which
typically contain themes of an architectural nature.
Man Ray is the nickname
of originally born Emmanuel Radnitzky,
who was born on August 27, 1890 and died on November 18, 1976. Ray was an
American visual artist although he spent most of his life in France. He was a huge
contributor to the Surrealist movement, although it wasn’t formal. He produced
major works in a variety of media but considered himself a painter above all.
He was best known for his photography, and he was a fashion and portrait
photographer. Ray is also acknowledged for his work with photograms, he called
"rayographs" so people knew they referred to him.

Title: Unusual Thursday
Date: 1951
Description: It’s random
different things all together in the one corner of the photo. Then you have
what it looks as to be an unfinished bridge leading off into the distance.
Analysis: I feel
as though this picture wasn’t supposed to have any symmetry. I do feel that she
used the rule of thirds so that the focal point which is the bridge in the
distance wasn’t centered. I feel not having it centered makes the image
stronger.
Interpretation: In
my opinion this photo speaks out to me a lot. Reason for that is probably
because I feel I have a very open mind and I am creative. I feel that it means
right now you may have mayhem going on but if your cross that bridge or keep
moving forward there’s another journey ahead of you. I also agree with the
title because maybe on a certain day it’s a bad one but the bridge represents a
new day and you should be looking forward to it.
Judgment: I feel
this is a piece of work that you need to really relate to yourself and analyze.
Without actually sitting down and thinking about it you probably wouldn’t think
it was a nice successful piece of art work. But overall I think it has a lot of
meaning and is a great piece.

Title: Coat-Stand
Date: 1920
Description: This
is a photo of a real woman and a cardboard cutout of a woman. From the breasts to
the bottom of the full leg is the real woman. Meanwhile the arms and face is a
card board cutout. Then he makes it look
like the coat rack is holding up the woman.
Analysis: I feel that
this picture is supposed to have the symmetry between the top part being fake
and the bottom being realistic. Although the one missing leg throws it off
slightly.
Interpretation:
This photo is rather easy for me to analyze because I feel as though the artist
is trying to portray to use as the viewer that not all women are real and there
are a lot of fake people in the world. I also feel that the coat-rack
represents the men and society back in the day because this was in the 1920’s
and women had no rights and whatever men said is what they were provided to do
no matter what.
Judgment: I feel
overall this is a really successful piece because it describes the life of a
woman in the 1920’s. This photograph says a lot to the viewer and proves that
being a woman was difficult in the 20’s. I really enjoy this photo and appreciate
the meaning that comes with it.
I feel both of these
pieces of work are different in appearance but I feel they have similar meanings
and as the why they were created. Sage is trying to interpret that you need to
get past the bad things and move forward while Ray is telling the horrible life
women had in the 20’s and showing what they were treated like. So both of the
artworks have a meaning to them which I feel is a cool thing. But these are
also very different by the way they are created and taken. The dark colors help
make the mood of the photo bad and show the feeling ad make the viewer have
those feelings. In the first one at the end of the bridge you see the light
which represents goodness. Overall I believe both of these have great meanings
and very successful.

Photo Walk 3 (Primary Colors)
"Chevy" Rachel Andrejcak 2014
You can see the primary colors are all involved in this photo. The yellow truck, blue chevy emblem on the front and the red sign in the distance.

"Puzzle Tree" Rachel Andrejcak 2014
I had a bit of a difficult time with this project. It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Putting all the pictures where they belong is pretty hard even with the picture right next to it. What I did was copy and paste the photos I took and put them all together like a puzzle thus why I named this the puzzle tree. Overall I believe it came out the way I wanted it to.
This is my favorite piece I have ever done. Michael is one of my TAPS students and he is the absolute best. I used a lot of cropping out certain parts to make this picture exactly how I wanted it to be. I believe it came out the exact way I wanted it to.

I'd Rather Be...
"Asylum" Rachel Andrejcak 2014
I'm extremely happy how this photo came out. Your probably having a difficult time finding where I actually am in the photo. I am in the top right corner right below the word asylum next to the girl in fetal position. To complete this photo I had started with a very bright photo of myself and used the hue/saturation to dim the color and I used the lasso tool to cut myself out of the background. I hope you all like it as much as I do. And I also hope it was a little difficult finding where I was placed in the photo.

"Halloween Bruh." Rachel Andrejcak 2014
For this project I had to do a lot of editing in photo shop. First I started with using the lasso tool to cut out the body and heads to place them on the hands. After that I used the magic wand to cut of the pumpkins to place where the heads originally were. Lastly I just took a simple photo of the desk to use as the background. Overall I like it a lot and think it came out exactly how I wanted it to.

This is my favorite photo I took today because of how bold the red is in the plant as well as how healthy the actual plant looks.

Portrait Series
"Light Skin" By: Rachel Andrejcak 2014
These photographs I had taken them in color, but I felt that the black and white with the pop of the blue watch would be interesting and pop. My main idea was to show different emotion in each picture and for the photos to be looking at one another. You can see the top left is looking down on the bottom right as it looks back up. I feel this is a strong photo series and I really like the way it came out.

Focus (Sharp)
– When the lens of a camera is centered in on one particular subject.
In this photo the camera was zoomed in on the ground
and you can see it perfectly clear rather than everything else in the photo.Lost Loved One Rachel Andrejcak 2014
Low Key- Is when a dark color is used to create more intense feeling when looking at the photo.
In this
photo the shadow and dark color helps its look low key.
Vertical- Is
a type of photo that is longer rather than shorter. Up and down is vertical.
In this
photo the puppy is sitting straight up and it makes her look longer rather than
wider so it makes it a vertical photo.
Get Big Rachel Andrejcak 2014
This photo
was taken from the floor making the people look large making it an angle up
photo.
Silhouette-
When a light source is coming from behind and the subject is dark.
The light source is coming from the windows and
the girl standing is more of a shadow because it’s dark, making this a
silhouette.
